North America

The first Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, MET provides the efficient testing and certification services you need to meet the U.S. and Canadian electric power tools safety requirements, including product safety and ENERGY STAR evaluations for batteries.   For unique or custom-built equipment, MET provides on-site field testing and evaluations.

Common North America standards include:

  • UL 60745-1  — Hand-held motor-operated electric tools – safety – part 1: general requirements
  • UL 60745-2 Series
  • CSA C22.2 # 60745-1
  • CSA C22.2 # 60745-2 Series
  • UL 1448 — Safety standard for electric hedge trimmers
  • UL 1602 — Safety standard for gasoline engine powered, rigid cutting member edgers and edger/trimmers

International

For international markets, our Global Market Access team will assist you in obtaining any major international certification mark you need.  MET is a recognized National Certifying Body (NCB) within the CB scheme for the review and recognition of test reports to IEC 60745-1 & -2 (TOOL).  For CE Marking in Europe, MET performs testing to support Declarations of Conformity for EMC, Low Voltage, and Machinery Directives, including these standards:
