Our Automotive Testing Capabilities »
We’ve worked with some of the most respected names in automotive development to help them ensure electromagnetic compatibility within their vehicles and ultimately take their products to market. We can perform all the necessary evaluations, including EMC, OEM-testing, and Performance evaluations to help you accelerate your automotive product’s journey to market.
What is Automotive Testing?
Automotive testing evaluates the performance and safety of vehicles to ensure that they will operate as expected when exposed to expected environmental conditions and do not present hazards to operators during use. A typical automotive testing evaluation consists of environmental simulations to replicate conditions like rain, salt, ozone, temperature extremes, shock, and vibration; followed by an EMC testing evaluation to ensure that electronic components are free from interference and do not emit unacceptable levels of radiation. These tests are performed on both end-vehicles and components to provide flawless performance and mitigate hazards to the highest possible degree.
As the automotive industry rapidly evolves toward electrification, connectivity, and autonomy, the demand for precise, reliable, and standards-compliant testing has never been greater. Eurofins Electrical & Electronics offers comprehensive automotive testing services designed to validate vehicle components under extreme conditions and complex electrical environments. Our advanced laboratories and expert engineering teams deliver critical insights to support product development, regulatory compliance, and global market access.
Automotive Electrical Testing Capabilities
Our electrical testing services are built around major OEM requirements, including General Motors’ GMW3172 standard. We simulate real-world electrical stressors to evaluate component durability and safety.
- Power Supply Interruptions: Simulates sudden loss and recovery of power to assess system behavior and resilience.
- Battery Voltage Dropout: Verifies performance during rapid voltage sags or drops common in automotive battery systems.
- Pulse Superimposed Voltage: Evaluates the ability of devices to withstand electrical noise and transients superimposed on steady-state voltages.
- Intermittent Short Circuit (to Battery and Ground): Tests input/output lines for fault tolerance under temporary short-circuit conditions.
- Continuous Short Circuit (to Battery and Ground): Confirms long-term fault endurance to battery and ground short circuits on power and signal lines.
- Open Circuit – Single Line Interruption: Analyzes component reaction to individual wire disconnection in harness or system failures.
- Open Circuit – Multiple Line Interruption: Evaluates functional behavior under simultaneous line losses or multiple wiring faults.
All tests are performed using state-of-the-art equipment, with precise control over voltage profiles, waveform characteristics, and failure diagnostics.
